CONFINEMENT AND SHAPING OF PLATFORMS WITH GEOGRIDS AND GEOTEXTILES<\/h1>\r\n

As an alternative to the traditional confinement system for structures such as sidewalks in public spaces with space limitations, geosynthetics present an efficient solution that allows for a fast construction process, finish and durability without the need for traditional materials such as concrete and steel.<\/p>\r\n

In this case, we present the conformation and confinement of a platform that was made with geomat geogrid<\/strong><\/a> 50 and textile structural geocontainers geobricks<\/strong><\/a>, whose mechanical capabilities allowed the use of recycled material as a structural filler. A woven geotextile was also used. FORTEX BX 30<\/strong><\/a> as a separating material and to prevent the migration of fines out of the platform structure.<\/p>\r\n

As can be seen in the following photographs, the soil of the site was profiled, compensating the volumes to achieve a horizontal surface. Next, the layer of woven geotextile<\/strong><\/em><\/a> Fortex BX 30 as a separation and stabilization element and, at its end, a series of Geobricks filled with reclaimed material, which act as a barrier that confines the compacted gravel that makes up the platform, allowing adequate compaction without the use of formwork. Next, a layer of Geoestera 50 hydromesh was placed, which covers the entire width of the structure and surrounds at its end an arrangement of pavers that confines the outer edge of the structure as a key and confines the final finish in pavers. A 5 cm layer of compacted sand was placed on top of the hydromesh and a layer of clay pavers was placed on top of it.<\/p>\r\n
