Reinforcement of asphalt layers
The reinforcement of asphalt layers consists of increasing the resistance to tension in its lower plane through the use of Geogrid. This effect is used to increase shear resistance at the interface, reducing the reflection of cracks and increasing the durability of the new asphalt layer due to its longer fatigue life.
Granular base reinforcement
In granular-based reinforcement, the tensile modulus of the geogrid is used to increase the elastic recovery capacity of the pavement structure. This benefit is used to increase the useful life of the pavement or to allow a reduction in the thickness of the granular base.
