Given the probability of the La Niña phenomenon occurring, the Canal del Dique restoration megaproject, led by the Adaptation Fund and the Government of the Atlantic, began its first phase of shore protection works in the populated centers of the municipality of Santa Lucia, hand in hand with the technology of the articulated Colchacreto textile form.

The work began with the protection of 300 meters of shoreline of a 1,500-meter section that is under development, as shown in the following video.

The Dique Consortium, responsible for designs and specifications, defined that the articulated Colchacreto was the solution that best adapted to the conditions and technical requirements of the project. The articulated Colchacreto is a textile form designed to be filled with hydraulic concrete and to be used in flexible coatings. Its design with geotextile and interior longitudinal and transverse tendons maintain the integrity of the protection against deformations that the surface may present.

In the market there are other flexible solutions such as rock-fill mattresses, Geomat type, or flexo pavers; however, its implementation requires rocks that were not found in the project area. Therefore, using the articulated Colchacreto significantly reduced the use of materials in the work, as well as the transportation of the material to the site.

In addition to requiring a flexible form that could be filled with concrete, some of the banks had lining lengths of 40 meters, of which 16 meters were below water. To respond to this need, Geomatrix manufactured the articulated Colchacreto with lengths adapted to the project without requiring overlaps in that sense, allowing the formwork to adapt to the ground even underwater without any possibility of failure.

On the other hand, the articulated Colchacreto has properties that guarantee the resistance of the geotextile to the pressures exerted by the concrete during pumping at greater heights. Therefore, the risk of material loss during the construction process is significantly reduced.

Thanks to its design, its technical properties and the service tailored to the project offered by Geomatrix, the articulated Colchacreto is the solution that is being implemented in the country's megaprojects.
