CONSTRUCTION OF STRUCTURE ON REINFORCED SOIL OF 8 METERS HIGH IN FUNCTIONAL UNIT 1. K36+090 REMEDIOS ROAD PROJECT – ZARAGOZA
Functional Unit 1 includes the section of road between the Municipality of Remedios and the Municipality of Zaragoza, where a new road with a length of 58 kilometers was built. Functional Unit 1 begins in the sector of El Llano de Córdoba in the municipality of Remedios (Km 0+000) and ends at Km 58 near the urban area of Zaragoza. The reinforcement of the embankment with uniaxial geogrids was key in the stabilization of this road.
The site of interest corresponds to the section located in the sector known as “El Cenizo” in the municipality of Zaragoza, between the abscissas K36+000 to K36+130 of Functional Unit 1.

Problem:
In this sector, the construction of an embankment for the road was carried out, which was developed uninterruptedly, Complying with the defined technical specifications of the project, until its construction is completed in October of 2020.

After its construction, serious cracks were generated in the middle of the season of intense rains in the months of October to December 2020, which required the creation of new designs for which activities were carried out geological-geotechnical exploration of the site, field tests, and detailed engineering analysis.

For the execution of the new works it was necessary to dismantle the initial embankment, in where the magnitude of the cracks associated with a large movement of lands triggered by the presence of groundwater in the foundation.

The sewer is confined within the structure of reinforced soil containment
