Reinforcement of granular layers with uniaxial geogrids

geogrids FORTGRID UX are made up of a regular network of integrally connected elements (ribs) with openings that allow interlocking with the surrounding soil.
The ribs are made from high tenacity polyester multifilament fibers PET, a special synthetic polymer for the manufacture of geosynthetics that owes its special characteristics to the higher level of polymerization it presents compared to other resins such as polypropylene PP, polyethylene PE and HDPE high density polyethylene.
During the production process, polyester granules are transformed into multifilament fibers that resemble small, high-strength strands called G5 Multifilaments. This process includes a first stage of extrusion through which the virgin material is converted into fine continuous filaments as seen in Figure 2 and a second stage in which they are subjected to a tensioning and compression process that gives them special mechanical characteristics. among which the long-term mechanical stability (low creep), high tensile strength and high deformation modulus stand out.
geogrids FORTGRID UX They are constructed from multifilaments forming ribs or straps using state-of-the-art industrial weaving techniques, conveniently arranging them both longitudinally and transversely to achieve the required resistance. At the joints or nodes, these are interwoven to achieve the resistance that the mesh requires to achieve adequate interaction with the ground. Once formed, they are coated with a copolymer that increases their dimensional rigidity and increases their resistance to installation damage, UV rays and aggressive chemical environments.
Benefits of using uniaxial geogrids in reinforced soil walls
Below are the benefits of using Uniaxial geogrids to reinforce walls in reinforced soil.
- Uniaxial geogrids are commonly used to reinforce retaining walls, embankments, roads and other structures that are built on soft or unstable soils.
- geogrids FORTGRID UX They are manufactured from high-strength polymers, such as polyester, and have multiple tensile strengths to meet the specific needs of each project.
- Uniaxial geogrids are installed in layers between granular soil layers
- The benefits of using uniaxial geogrids to reinforce walls in reinforced soil include increased load-bearing capacity, increased stability, and increased durability.
- Walls in soil reinforced with geogrids FORTGRID UX Are an efficient alternative to optimize the use of full materials and available areas in infrastructure projects.
