Permanent erosion control blankets
Hazard mitigation with permanent erosion control mats
Natural soil erosion as a problem
The erosion Natural soil erosion has always been an issue of global concern, however, human activities have greatly aggravated the situation. Erosion can be described as a natural phenomenon of removal, entrainment, transfer and sedimentation of soil particles.
The exposure of soils on high slopes, with the presence of weathered rocks, brings with it the phenomenon of erosion and falling detritus, caused by runoff, wind, gravity or the flow of water currents, leading to the degradation of ecosystems, increased risk of landslides and flooding, considerable loss of biodiversity, damage to infrastructure and, in catastrophic situations, the displacement of local inhabitants.
Erosion control cobbles that integrate with the environment
To mitigate these problems, GEOMATRIX offers long-term permanent erosion control blankets, natural green in color, that integrate very well with the environment, controlling the action of erosion agents due to their high resistance against hydrodynamic forces present in slopes and channels. For the case in question, the use of a blanket was implemented. Terratrac TRM 50, because the slope was quite steep and with a considerable height between 10 to 15 meters.
TERRATRAC TRM 50 mulches have sufficient thickness, strength and voids to retain the soil and allow the development of vegetation through its matrix, reinforcing and anchoring roots and stems.
TERRATRAC TRM 50 blanket eliminates the action of erosive agents on the soil, controlling the phenomenon from the crown of the slope.
