Geogrid Installation Damage Test
TECHNICAL APPROACH
Employ an appropriate procedure to simulate installation damage to geosynthetics employees in reinforcement of asphalt layer, which allows the evaluation of the Retained Resistance after installation damage.
PROCEDURE (INSTALLATION DAMAGE)
- On each demarcated area, 364 grams of CRR1 asphalt emulsion (400 g/m²) were placed and spread appropriately.
- After cutting the asphalt emulsion, each of the 130 cm x 70 cm samples were installed on the surface of the previously conditioned and demarcated asphalt layer.
- The compaction of the samples was carried out using a forklift of 5.22 Ton Approx. with a number of 8 passes over the samples (2 passes for each lane)
Laboratory procedure
The Tensile Properties test (ASTM D6637) was performed on both the control samples and the exposed samples, using 3 test specimens for each sample and testing the same rib axis.
