In the field of hydraulic and coastal engineering, impregnated geocontainers made of high tenacity polyester geotextiles represent an advanced, sustainable and efficient technical solution. These systems allow the containment, protection and rehabilitation of structures subjected to erosion processes or intense hydraulic stresses.

At Geomatrix, specialized solutions are developed, such as the Hydroblock and the large geocontainersThe gravity and hydraulic protection structures are ideal for the construction of gravity and hydraulic protection structures using the material available on site.

What are impregnated geocontainers?

The impregnated geocontainers are elements made from woven polyester geotextiles that have been encapsulated with a special copolymerdesigned to preserve the material against weathering, humidity and abrasion caused by the flow of water. This impregnation significantly improves its durability and resistanceThis makes them a reliable alternative to traditional hydraulic protection solutions.

We have specialized solutions such as HYDROBLOCK and the large geocontainerswhich facilitate the construction of gravity structures and hydraulic protection using the material available on the site.

Geocontainer HYDROBLOCKinnovation for hydraulic works

The HYDROBLOCK is a rectangular shaped impregnated geocontainer, designed for on-site installation in difficult to access locations. It has an internal structure and side handles for easy handling, and has a capacity of approximately 1.45 m³.

It is made of a woven polyester geotextile encapsulated with a copolymer that protects it from deterioration caused by exposure to aggressive environmental conditions or by the abrasive action of currents.

HYDROBLOCK can be filled by hydraulic or mechanical means with available on-site soil or suitable earth material. It is ideal for the construction of lightweight gravity structures and various hydraulic applications, such as:

Protection of slopes against water bodies

  • Avoids erosion generated by the current, guaranteeing structural stability and durability.

Structures for bank rehabilitation and protection against lateral erosion

  • It allows the reinforcement and stabilization of eroded margins or edges without significantly altering the natural environment.

Crown enhancement for flood control

  • Helps to raise or reinforce levee crowns and containment edges, improving flood defense capacity.

Large geocontainers for protection and rehabilitation

Large geocontainers have a rectangular shape and dimensions adaptable to the project, with capacities up to 14 m³. They can be installed in situ (with internal structure) or by tipping, depending on ground conditions and structural design.

These geocontainers are manufactured with high tenacity polyester woven geotextile, capable of withstanding the stresses generated during filling and installation. They are filled mechanically with the soil of the site or with available earth materials.

When required by the project, they can be made with impregnated geotextiles encapsulated with copolymer, eliminating the need for additional coatings on the exposed face. This optimizes the process and increases the durability of the structure.

Due to their size, large-volume impregnated geocontainers offer high hydrodynamic stability and excellent structural performance, as soil confinement prevents erosion by traction forces. The formed structures are flexible, tolerating settlement of the foundation soil and outperforming conventional rigid solutions.

Its main applications include:

Protection against abrasive action - wet face on embankments

Provides an effective barrier against abrasion from water flow and wear of structural material.

Conclusion: sustainability and proven performance

Impregnated geocontainers made of high-performance geotextiles are a modern, versatile and environmentally responsible alternative for hydraulic and coastal protection.

At Geomatrix, its application has demonstrated high efficiency, durability and stability, offering safe and sustainable solutions for infrastructure projects requiring erosion control, containment and bank rehabilitation.
