Reinforced floor walls - Patio Perdomo
Urban infrastructure development constantly faces complex technical challenges, especially when it comes to taking advantage of land with geotechnical and geometric constraints. This was the case for a recent project where a large-capacity bus parking platform needed to be built on an existing slope with a steep incline and limited space for maneuvering. The main challenge was to contain the terrain in a safe and efficient manner, guaranteeing the stability of the platform and allowing a fast execution without compromising the operation of the environment.
In response to this need, several traditional solutions were evaluated, such as the lowering of natural slopes -which implied excessive land occupation and loss of useful area-, the implementation of deep containment systems such as caissons with screens -high cost and long lead times-, and reinforced concrete walls -construction intensive in terms of materials and logistics. However, after a detailed technical-economic analysis, the solution that proved to be the most viable was the implementation of a Reinforced Slurry Reinforced Wall (RSW).

He MSR stood out not only for its versatility and speed of constructionbut also for its structural efficiencyand its use, lower demand for conventional materials and its ability to adapt to challenging geotechnical conditions. In addition, it allowed for effective integration with the architectural design of the parking lot, facilitating drainage, aesthetic finishes and access without affecting the operation.

A key component in the performance and durability of the reinforced soil wall was the system of subdraindesigned to effectively control the hydrostatic pressure behind the structure. A subdrain horizontal composed of PERMADRAIN, arranged on a slope to facilitate the collection and evacuation of infiltrated water. This system was complemented with a bed draining gravel FORTEX BX 760 geotextile-wrapped cleanerwhich functioned as a filtering and conduction medium at the interface with the structural fill. This configuration kept the reinforced soil dry and stable, minimizing the risk of saturation, internal erosion or loss of strength.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

This project demonstrates how the sustainable geotechnical solutions as the reinforced soil wall allow you to make the most of complex terrain, reducing costs, speeding up construction and guaranteeing safety.
The use of products such as PERMADRAIN and FORTEX BX 760 reinforces the commitment to functional and durable solutions in urban engineering.
