Bank protection works with high-performance geotextiles
Bank protection works with high-performance geotextiles
In works of protection of banks in the event of scour events or flood risk mitigation, different traditional alternatives can be implemented, however, the construction of structures with geotextiles has gained great importance.
Geotextiles in marginal protection and flood control structures
A solution for the construction of marginal protection and flood control structures is the use of GEOCONTAINER, which is a large bag made of HIGH RESISTANCE POLYESTER WOVEN GEOTEXTILE PET, designed to be filled by mechanical means with the same soil from the site, achieving structures of great mass and volume that are accommodated on the ground in a versatile way by its size and shape, as seen in Photographs 1 and 2.

Taking into account the tractive forces of water and the conditions to which this type of hydraulic control structures may be exposed, it is recommended to include some type of coating to prolong the useful life of the protection. The construction of coatings for erosion control in front of bodies of water mostly uses concrete as the main construction material; however, its installation is difficult and expensive in high-rise structures or slopes. The textile form ARTICULATED COLCHACRETO allows you to take advantage of the benefits of concrete to cover these surfaces, allowing continuous coverage in the form of interconnected blocks that are articulated and adapt to the shapes of the terrain or structure, mitigating the effects of scour and abrasion, given its macro texture, similar to boulders. , which is obtained once it is filled with hydraulic concrete, as seen in Photographs 3 and 4.

Erosion control blankets as a complement to the solution
To protect the dry face of the formed dike from erosion, it is recommended to implement an erosion control blanket. TERRATRAC TRM, than a long-term permanent mantle, designed to provide immediate protection against erosive agents, such as water or wind, that occur in this type of riverside works. Likewise, it is manufactured with NON-DEGRADABLE SYNTHETIC POLYESTER FIBERS RESISTANT TO UV LIGHT that forms a three-dimensional reinforcement matrix, which retains soil particles and facilitates the establishment of vegetation. See Photographs 6, 7 and 8.
