The GEOESTRAL HYDROMELis an alternative used to control the phenomenon of lateral erosion and scour in rivers. The GEOESTRAL HYDROMEL is manufactured from high tenacity polyester and impregnated with a copolymer that makes it highly resistant to abrasive processes and increased tractive forces in water bodies. These phenomena typically occur during service conditions. Abrasion test on Geoestera geogrids

In hydraulic works, the GEOESTRAL HYDROMEL can be implemented as a coating in rockfill mattresses and gabion type containers, which allow the formation of flexible and resistant protection elements, without corrosion damage, being highly resistant to abrasion and achieving non-conventional dimensions, guaranteeing a higher performance on site, at the time of its execution.

Likewise, as specified in the product data sheets, the GEOESTRAL HYDROMELThe ultimate tensile strength in both the MD (Machine direction) and TD (Transverse direction) directions, which varies according to the specification, gives a minimum strength value of 50 kN/m for the HYDROGRID GEOESTERA 50 up to a maximum value of 300 kN/m for HYDROGRID GEOESTERA 300.

The following are the results of the test to determine the abrasive wear on the GEOESTRAL HYDROMELwhich consists of a cylindrical chamber that generates a turbid flow with different abrasive materials (previously graded aggregate).

In the first instance, particle size percentages were projected, including an additional 15% of a 3/8" or 9.5 mm size and an 8% of ½" or 12.5 mm.

The test was conducted at an exposure period of 96 hours, with a velocity in excess of 2 m/s, proving to create turbulent flow conditions and particle concentration, which gradually increase accelerated abrasion damage on the GEO-MESH HYDROMESH.

The materials exposed to the abrasive conditions were: HYDROMESH GEO-MESH 50, GEOMASTER HYDROMESH 80 and GEOMALLA COMPETENCIA GC 90/30.

A comparative graph is presented below to establish the % of the retained strength after 96 hours, in both directions (TD and MD), for each material.

The "abrasive wear" method in GEO-MATTING HYDROMESHThe results show that the percentage of retained resistance is higher in the products to be selected, and that the percentage of retained resistance is higher in the products to be selected, and that the percentage of retained resistance is higher in the products to be selected. GEO-MATTING HYDROMESHThis is due to the type of structure (Biaxial Geogrid), the type of material from which it is made (PET) and the process of impregnation with a copolymer that gradually increases the performance in terms of its mechanical and hydraulic properties in any natural environment of chemical, biological, mechanical degradation, salt water environments and aggressive environments where other materials deteriorate rapidly.
